Fernandinho 'set to be offered new 12-month contract' at Man City

Veteran Manchester City midfielder Fernandinho is reportedly in line to receive a 12-month contract extension by manager Pep Guardiola.
The Brazilian star has been a mainstay in the City side for many years, and Guardiola has spokenly repeatedly in the past of his importance to the side.
Now, despite him entering the twilight of his career, Fernandinho is to be offered a new deal, according to the Sun.
The player's importance to the side has grown even more this season, as Fernandinho was tasked to undertake leadership responsibilities following the departure of Vincent Kompany.
An injury crisis within the City ranks has now even led Fernandinho to take the position of the former club captain, filling in at centre-half as a makeshift defender.

The Brazilian has now been in Manchester for six years, following a move from Shakhtar, and is said to be settled in the north west.
Fernandinho is expected to jump at the chance of a fresh contract extension, with his young family having been brought up in Manchester.
It is reported however the star would have to accept a slight reduction on his current £120,000 weekly wages at the Etihad.
City are looking to keep Fernandinho on the books in order to help summer signing Rodri, who has been earmarked to replace the Brazilian in the long term.
