Man Utd face competition from Man City to land Norwegain hotshot Haaland (Sun)

Manchester United are facing competition from local rivals Manchester City in the race to land Norwegian hotshot Erling Braut Haaland.

The 19-year-old has caught the eye with 18 goals in 11 games for Red Bull Salzburg this season, prompting links to United as well as fellow European giants Real Madrid , Barcelona and Liverpool .
According to The Sun , the Premier League champions have now entered the race, sending scouts to watch him in action against their title rivals, Liverpool, in the Champions League earlier this month.
Haaland did not start at Anfield as he recovered from illness, but he came off the bench and scored the equaliser in a dramatic game which ended in a 4-3 defeat.
City are said to feel they have a strong chance of landing the teenager, who is the son of their former fan favourite Alf-Inge Haaland.
Pep Guardiola is believed to have kept a keen eye on Haaland as the club begin to think of a long-term successor for Sergio Aguero.
He has emerged as one of the most demanded prospects in Europe as a result of his goalscoring exploits so far this season.
The youngster was previously handed his senior debut by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and has hailed the impact the current Red Devils boss had on his life and career.
But father Alf-Inge has previously declared his dislike of United after being involved in a feud with Roy Keane which ultimately ended with a career-ending knee injury in an infamous tackle in the Manchester derby
