Man Utd's reasons for not pursuing Neymar transfer after summer availability

Manchester United resisted the urge to throw their hat in the ring for the summer signing of superstar Neymar.

The Brazilian made it clear he was looking to leave Paris Saint-Germain - but he has remained stuck in the French capital in the face of an angry reaction from his own fans.
With Barcelona and Real Madrid unable to take him back to Spain, there could have been an opportunity for other clubs such as United to swoop.
But, according to The Athletic, those behind the scenes at Old Trafford do not consider Neymar the sort of character they want at the club.
It is claimed they felt the youngster would have been a distraction in the dressing room, particularly alongside fellow Brazilians Fred and Andreas Pereira.
They are also said to see his agent and father, Neymar Sr, as "money-obsessed", with Neymar himself too focused on winning the Balon d'Or rather than team success.
Concerns also surround his ability to dedicate himself in the same way Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo do, with few signs of him changing his approach.
As a result, United's hierarchy are believed to have had few doubts about their decision not to pursue an ambitious move for the superstar despite their attacking crisis.
United will be in the market for attacking reinforcements in January, but the likes of Mario Mandzukic, Callum Wilson and Mousse Dembele are on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's radar.
Solskjaer recently discussed their need for new options in attack after failing to replace Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku in the summer.
"You don't have to be a rocket scientist to know it's a forward we're going to try to recruit next time," Solskjaer said.
"We're looking for some creativity and goals, but they [potential signings] have to be the right one.
"There were strikers available [in the summer] but not the ones we wanted. We couldn't get the one we wanted."
